One of the biggest reasons people get jobs instead of working for themselves is because of fear. Fear of the risk, fear of the difficulty, failure, even fear of the rewards. This is the fundamental problem with Entrepreneurship. The Fear.
People are smart. It’s hard to believe but we are all very intelligent beings and it is within all of us to accomplish our goals. Some like the security of being in a job. If you do not want to take the risk then you are probably better suited working for someone else. There is no shame in that.
However if you are the type that loves a challenge, love to take on something new, and is not too afraid to make it happen then what are you doing? The world is waiting for you.
The harsh truth I have learned myself about being an Entrepreneur is that it is more complex than anything else I have taken on in my life. As my Business teacher John Udelhofen once said, “You wear many hats in business, constantly taking off one and putting on another.”
Especially when starting out, you have to be your own manager, accountant, customer support, marketeer, designer, etc. Everything that has to be done, you have to do. If you have partners they can lend help to the cause but the fundamentals are the same. You are everything to your venture.
The question “Can I make it?” Is not whether you can do it but whether you are willing to.

Sometimes it is a question of do you have the skills to make it. You can be the most motivated person in the world but with no skills or ideas or mentors, you wouldn’t make it.
I like your last line. It really does boil down to that. Are you or any of us willing to do what it takes to succeed? Sadly I deal with entrepreneurs all day and I can tell you that many are not willing to do what is needed. They make more excuses than anything else. Everyone thinks they can jump on the net and in 6 months make 100,000 or more per month.
They never want to do the work for that kind of income though.
